The Gospel of God
The good news is that no matter what we have done in our lives, even the most heinous acts, it can all be forgiven by God. We "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). Without God we are actually dead already and there is no hope for us (Ephesians 2: 1;12)
But God is love (1 John 4:8), and as it is His nature, He "so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).
God is the Father who loves His children and longs for them to come home to Him (Luke 15:11-32). He washes us, embraces us in His arms and raises us to new life in Christ (Titus 3:5; Romans 6:4). When we believe in Jesus Christ we have life and are born again of the Spirit, born of God (John 1:12; John 3:36).
The truth is that we cannot save ourselves, but can only be saved by the free gift which God has given us in Christ (Ephesians 2:8). We are saved by the grace of God, which is received by faith and not by anything we can do of ourselves. This is good news, we cannot do anything apart from Jesus Christ, and God has already done everything for us, and He has done it in the person and life of Jesus Christ through His obedience, death and resurrection to new life (John 15:5; Romans 8:3-8).
Peter said on the day of Pentecost, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call” (Acts 2: 38-39).
Paul wrote in his letter to the Romans, "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9).
Jesus said, Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light" (Matthew 11:28-30).
Praise God, that anyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved (Acts 2:21)!
This certainly is good news. This certainly is the Gospel of God.
